ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnosis is a natural state. Everyone has experienced hypnosis many times but mostly without realising it. If you've ever driven home on auto-pilot or been absorbed in a good book or film you've experienced hypnosis. Another example is daydreaming or that pleasant state we all know before going to sleep. It is not being asleep more an alternative state of consciousness.
Hypnotherapy is different to other forms of therapy in that the hypnotherapist works with the unconscious not the conscious mind.
HOW DOES HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?
The techniques employed are numerous and these are tailored to suit the client. Some clients are concerned that they will lose control in hypnosis. However, irrespective of the quality of the trance the client remains aware of what is going on around them. The experience is of deep relaxation which enables the absorption by the subconscious of powerful positive suggestions. It's as if the body is asleep and the mind is awake.
It is generally considered more effective if the client is personally motivated to change
